Hope everyone’s holiday was festive. My sister and I got a flat tire on Christmas day. Nothing like being dressed up and changing a flat tire on the side of the road in the rain. Super fun!!! But hey it will be a Christmas memory for years to come :)

If you stopped by yesterday, you saw that I talked about saving wrapping paper to make Christmas Present tags. Here is another great use of Christmas wrapping paper… flower making.
I start with circles in two sizes. The more you cut the fuller the flower.
Once you have the circles cut you need to cut the circles like fringe.
Once you have them cut you will stack and glue them. Fluff up the fringe and add some flare to the middle. I like rhinestones. Now you have a fun flower you can add to your tags or maybe add to a christmas layout.

Pin ItIt’s Christmas Eve!! Where has the time gone?!! So at Scrap It With a Song we are doing a week of creativity!! I wanted to share with you something I have been doing the last few years.
After all of the presents have been opened, I always go through the paper and pick out pieces of my favorite papers and ribbons, like below.
I put the paper away with my christmas decorations and then in November I pull out the paper and use it to make tags for my presents. It makes me feel good for recycling and gives my packages a great handmade feel. Here is a sample of the tags I made this year. Everything was recycled from 2009!!

I saw this in a magazine and thought, "I could make that" and now you can too!!!!!!!
STEP ONE: Cut Strips. Find your favorite patterned paper. You can use any color!! I went for the traditional green. My strips are about an inch wide.
STEP TWO: Cut the strips into smaller strips. I used fun scissors to add some flare but you can do what you fancy.
STEP THREE (optional and not pictures): Add ink to the edges. I decided to add some brown ink to the bottom edges to add some dimension but it's not necessary.
STEP FOUR: Curl the edges. This helps to give the fullness to the tree.
STEP FIVE: Layer and glue. I used hot glue over a Styrofoam cone (you can get these at michaels). Start at the bottom and glue layer by layer, overlapping the last so no white pokes through. Just make sure you have enough paper to cover the thing. I had cut my strips to long and almost didn't have enough to make it to the top. You can see from the second picture that my pieces got much smaller... I actually cut the big ones in half.
